The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the road this week as they take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday, October 25 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Steelers have been doing alright without number one quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as he’s out with an injury. They’ve won two of their last three games and are coming off of a 25-13 home victory over the Arizona Cardinals last weekend. They now sit in second place in the AFC North with a 4-2 record. The Chiefs are in the basement of the AFC West with a 1-5 mark after dropping a 16-10 decision in Minnesota last time out. Kansas has lost five in a row and will likely be without the injured Jamaal Charles once again.

The Steelers have picked up some valuable wins without Roethlisberger, such as their upset against Arizona last weekend. They outscored the Cardinals 12-0 in the third quarter and rolled to victory. One of the reasons for the come-from-behind triumph was the play of third-string quarterback Landry Jones as well as wide receiver Martavis Bryant. It was Bryant’s first game of the 2015 campaign after missing the first five outings with a combination of injury and suspension.

Jones came into the game in the second half when starting quarterback Michael Vick left the game with a hamstring problem. Jones proceeded to hit Bryant with a couple of touchdown passes and added some insurance late in the game with an 88-yard pass. Bryant finished the game with a team-best 137 yards on half a dozen catches. It looks like Roethlisberger will be out again this weekend and Vick is questionable at the moment. If Jones plays again it’ll be his first NFL start.

If Jones starts then look for the Steelers to go with an aerial attack against the weak Kansas City which has given up 276.7 yards a game so far this season. The Steelers can also fall back on their running game with Le’Veon Bell leading the way. Bell has been in fine form over the past few weeks with a pair of touchdowns and 328 yards in his past three contests. The Steelers have gone 4-0-1 against the spread in their past five road games as well as 4-1 straight up.

The Chiefs certainly miss Jamaal Charles and didn’t post any points on the board during the first three quarters against Minnesota. They also gained just 51 yards during the entire first half. They played a decent fourth quarter and quarterback Alex Smith hit Albert Wilson with a touchdown pass, but it was too little too late. The Kansas front seven has played well this year and are seventh-best in the NFL by conceding just 3.6 yards on each carry. They’ll be up against a Pittsburgh running attack which produces 123.8 yards per game.

The Kansas offense is weakened without running back Charles and they’re hoping Charcandrick West can help replace him. However, West wasn’t at his best last week with only 31 yards gained on his seven receptions. If West struggles again, head coach Andy Reid may decide to utilize Knile Davis in a bigger role. But he gained a mere 13 yards on five runs against the Vikings. Kansas City is 6-4 both against the spread and straight up in their past 10 home encounters and will likely fall to 6-5 straight up after this game.
